Rewind time by 5 years and it would have been unlikely that anyone apart from your local Burmese friends would have raved about this place. However, in recent years, the Myanmar government has relaxed their visa/visitor requirements. As a result, there has been a huge influx of tourists from all over the world. Fortunately, being so far from any other major cities, Inle Lake remains mostly untouched. Mostly.
